Botox Treatment in Downtown Scottsdale

botox treatment in downtown scottsdale

You may have been thinking about getting BOTOX® lately but you are still unsure. Hopefully this post will give you some answers and help you determine if BOTOX® is right for you.

BOTOX® is the one and only FDA approved treatment to temporarily improve the appearance of both moderate to severe frown lines between the brows and crow’s feet lines in adults. BOTOX® is a medical prescription and can only be administered by a licensed medical professional like the doctors at True Med Spa.

BOTOX® is a neurotoxin that can treat a variety of medical conditions like excess sweating and overactive bladder, but is most commonly used to improve the look of wrinkles on the face. Many men and women use BOTOX® as a part of their anti-aging regimen. The injectable can be highly affective to reverse the hands of time especially when used with other anti-aging treatments and a strong skin care routine.

Is BOTOX® right for me?

Anyone can receive BOTOX® treatments but it is important that you discuss whether or not you are an ideal candidate with your doctor. People who suffer from certain medical conditions like ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease, myasthenia gravis, or Lambert-Eaton syndrome should not receive BOTOX® treatments and you should also avoid treatment if you are allergic to any of its ingredients.

Schedule a consultation with True Med Spa to determine if you’re a good candidate for BOTOX® injection.

BOTOX Injection Sites

BOTOX Forehead Injections

One of the most common areas for BOTOX® treatment is the forehead for horizontal wrinkles and in between the brow area for vertical wrinkles known as “11s”. BOTOX® targets one of the main reasons for forehead wrinkles, which is the overuse and repeated frequent use of specific muscles that cause frowning or squinting. As your doctor injects BOTOX®, they will work to temporarily reduce muscle activity and thereby reducing the appearance of those lines.

BOTOX Around Eyes

Another very common area for BOTOX® treatment is in the area around the eyes for the treatment of crows feet. Your doctor will inject three main areas around both of your eyes. By injecting BOTOX® ® into those muscles around the eyes you will be reducing the muscle activity and lessening the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

BOTOX® in Lips

Both men and women experience fine lines and wrinkles around their mouths. Wrinkles can occur from a multitude of different causes including sun exposure, smoking, or simply as a result of aging. The doctors at True Med Spa can use BOTOX® around the muscles of the mouth to help reduce the appearance of wrinkles as part of your overall anti-aging treatment plan. Doctors should use caution when using BOTOX® around the mouth as a little goes a long way.

BOTOX® Eyebrow Lift

Doctors are using BOTOX® to help achieve the look of an ‘eyebrow lift’ without the surgery by injecting BOTOX® into the area surrounding your eyebrows. Your doctor will have to have a very detailed understanding of the underlying anatomy of the brow area and he or she will be sure to take a look at each individual’s eyebrow movement. Your doctor will then carefully inject BOTOX® in the muscles around the brow and ideally it will cause the eyebrow to rest in a higher and lifted position, giving you the look of an eyebrow lift!

There are other areas that can be treated with BOTOX® so be sure to consult with your medical professional about treatment options for you. If you are in the Scottsdale area, be sure to reach out to our team to schedule your free consultation and see if BOTOX® is right for you.

Laser Hair Removal in Downtown Scottsdale

Have you ever imagined what it would be like to never have to wax, shave, or tweeze again? Now imagine you could remove unwanted hair with a laser that is virtually pain free. Does that sound too good to be true? Well, it isn’t and in fact at True Med Spa we are now providing our clients with revolutionary laser hair removal from Soprano Ice by Alma Laser. The Soprano Ice system has an applicator that cools the skin as it removes hair and provides amazing results in fewer visits.

Laser Hair Removal Options

There are several different types of laser hair removal options or machines available to consumers. Laser hair removal systems that you find in doctor’s offices and medical spas remove unwanted hair using light beams that target the darkness of hair. The light pulse of a laser removal machine targets melanin, which gives hair its pigment.

The laser works by targeting the darkness of the hair and essentially ignoring and having little effect on the surrounding skin. The hair follicle is effectively damaged by the laser, inhibiting future hair growth. Over time, the damage to the hair is so severe that the hair stops growing altogether.  True Med Spa offers pain free laser hair removal for your convenience in Downtown Scottsdale. It is important to note that some laser hair removal machines are available for home use but if used without professional training can damage the sensitive skin in areas of the face, underarm, and bikini line.

Laser Hair Removal Facts

Laser hair removal has become increasingly popular in the permanent reduction of hair growth all over the body, including the face. Lasers have been in use since 1997 and technology is more advanced now than ever before. While laser hair removal works best on dark hair with light skin, available laser technologies can now target dark hair in patients with tanned skin.

Treatment Areas

Laser hair removal can be used on many areas of the body including:

  • Face (upper lip and sides of face)
  • Underarms
  • Forearms and upper arms
  • Bikini area
  • Back and chest
  • Legs

Does laser hair removal work on light hair?

Unfortunately, laser hair removal is not effective against the reduction of light hair (blonde, white, and grey). Due to the fact that the laser technology targets melanin in the hair, the machines simply cannot target hair that is lighter in color. Laser hair removal does not work on natural blondes, patients with white or grey hair or peach fuzz. There are other treatments available for the removal of unwanted hair. Schedule a consult with True Med Spa to find out more information.

Does laser hair removal actually work?

The short answer is yes! It is important however to have the right expectations for laser hair removal. Keep the following in mind during your laser hair removal treatments:

  • You will need several treatments in order to reduce hair growth
  • 100% removal is not guaranteed
  • Touch ups will often be required several months or years after last treatment
  • Treatments are typically 3-8 sessions long

The efficiency of laser hair removal will be dependent on the effectiveness of the machine as well as the skill and experience of the operator. Most patients actually need periodic touch up treatments after the initial set of three to eight treatments. While your skin may appear to be completely hair free, you may see some regrowth several months to years after your last treatment.**

What is a Photofacial?

A photofacial refers to a set of skin treatments that use a form of light-based technology to help treat brown spots from the sun and aging, broken capillaries that are causing skin redness, and assist in boosting collagen in the skin. There are two types of light technology that are used in photofacials. At True Med Spa in Downtown Scottsdale, we use Intense Pulsed Light, or IPL, photofacial.

IPL is a popular skincare treatment for both men and woman. IPL is used by men and women with light or fair complexions who are looking to treat their sun damage and age spots, boost skin firmness and elasticity, and improve the overall look and tone of the skin.

How Does IPL Work?

IPL photofacials use short pulses of light energy to penetrate just below the skin’s surface. This process damages the melanin that is responsible for brown ‘age spots’ or ‘sun spots’ and also the blood vessels that are responsible for broken capillaries. After an IPL photofacial, the skin works to repair the ‘damage’ caused by the light pulses, resulting in a more even skin tone. This process is called photorejuvenation and it causes the benefits of a photofacial to appear gradually over a few weeks after the treatment. Results of an IPL photofacial can take up to six treatments but many clients are begin to see initial results after the first few treatment sessions.**

*Individual Results May Vary

The wonderful thing about a photofacial is that it can treat a wide range of skin problems with just one single treatment. There is no need to have number of different treatments to solve a long list of skin conditions. You can treat brown spots that are usually caused by unprotected sun exposure and even aging, redness caused by rosacea and broken capillaries.

Another benefit to photofacials is that it can help boost collagen which will leave your skin looking and feeling firmer. IPL also can be used to treat acne as the IPL light pulses destroy bacteria that commonly cause acne.

Side Effects of IPL

The great news is that this revolutionary treatment comes with very mild side effects. The side effects that are reported range mostly from redness to mild swelling. These side effects usually resolve within a few hours a just a couple of days after your treatment. So your face may appear ‘worse’ before it is better but this is very common with almost all photofacial treatments. On more rare occasions, some patients suffer mild bruising and swelling but that too also resolves within a few days. As with any treatment, there are extremely rare cases and you should discuss them with your skin care professional in your consultation at True Med Spa.**

It is important to remember to always use sunscreen to not only protect your skin, but to also prolong the effects of the IPL photofacial for as long as possible. Unprotected sun exposure is likely what has led you to seeking treatment so be sure to protect your skin from any further damage.

Results of an IPL photofacial will vary but most clients will see a more even skin tone with improved texture after IPL treatment. Your skin is left glowing and looking younger!**
